Wedding insurance Tips
- You should aim to have a wedding insurance policy in place before you start paying out money in the form of deposits etc
- Keep all your receipts and booking confirmations in case you need to make a claim, as your insurance company will need to see copies of them
- Read your policy carefully before signing up to make sure you know what you're covered for - and what you're not
- Make sure you're not paying for coverage of things you don't need
- If you have a medical condition, make sure your insurer knows about it, as some will refuse to cover existing conditions
- See how much 'excess' your policy has, and make sure you're comfortable with having to pay up to this amount before a claim can be made
- If your wedding is to be held overseas, make sure you're covered for travel cancellation and delays which could disrupt your ceremony
- Make sure your policy covers the full value of the gifts on your wedding list, or alternatively see if your home insurance policy would cover this - it might work out cheaper
